An innovative building where all the living species live in harmony.
Designed for Solar Decathlon Middle-East Contest 2018
BaityKool is an innovative prototype made by a multidisciplinary team from United Arab Emirates, France and Palestine. The bioclimatic design respects the climate and the local spirit.
The skin is a contemporary mashrabiya and integrates solar panels to maximise the production of energy from sunrise to sunset. Protected from the sun by a movable pergola with integrated PV, our green living heart with the aquaponic system produces food.
The sun also allows us to reuse waste water. We are able to cool our house at night with the north wind for natural ventilation and the celestial voute with Radiative Sky Cooling panels.
BaityKool is an innovative building where all the living species live in harmony. Placed in the middle of the desert, the project evokes an immovable rock enclosing an oasis, which contrasts with the nomadic nature of its construction.
The design considers the local hot climate by proposing an inner shaded court surrounded by the two building masses. The solution maximizes the openings toward the inner court and minimize the openings toward the outside.
Is to conceive a multi-family house where all the elements coexist in harmony, adapted to the climate and the culture, using the latest innovations.
Is to give life to the project we imagined in the best creative way possible, respecting the rules and requests of the competition in order to make it to the first place.
